Orville E. Smith
Orville Edwin Smith, 89, of Port Huron, died Friday, March 13, 2026.
He was born October 8, 1936 in Imlay City to the late William and Nellie Smith. He was a graduate of Imlay City High School. He married Loraine McIntyre on October 27, 1956 in North Street. She preceded him in death on July 11, 2018.
Orville was a computer programmer for over 30 years for several companies including Prestolite, Mary Maxim and K-Mart. He also worked for Whitecap where he would make canvas tops for boats and campers. He loved to travel, including on trains and flying in airplanes. He was a talented photographer and would take photos any chance he could. Orville liked hunting and would bring home deer, pheasants, and rabbit. He was an avid Detroit sports fan. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his two children, Mary Gierman and the Reverend David (Dawn) Smith; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Milan (Phylis) McIntyre; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his son, Denis Smith; son-in-law, Ken Gierman; and eight siblings.
Graveside services will be held at a later date at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Fort Gratiot Township.
