James Turner

James Turner, 93, of Kimball Township, died Wednesday, January 30, 2013.
He was born on January 19, 1920 in Newberry, Ontario to the late George and Mary Turner. He married Mae Phobe Rose on March 15, 1947 in Windsor, Ontario. She died on March 3, 1978. He married Evelyn Curtis on June 6, 1981 in Port Huron.
Mr. Turner was a veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces having served in the Elgin Regiment. He was employed at Turner Electric and was a member of the IBEW Local 58. He belonged to the Royal Canadian Legion in Wyoming, Ontario, Pine Grove Lodge #11 F. & A.M. and the Blue Water Sportsman's Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and was a long time member of the Presbyterian Church, where for many years he cooked the Easter morning breakfast.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; a daughter, Janice (James) Lang; Evelyn's children, Gloria McKeand, Wayne (Nancy) Curtis, Barbara Minnie, Mary (Gary) Howison, Richard (Debbie) Curtis, Mark Curtis, and Brenda Allman; 16 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew Ron Thomson.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Thursday and 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 2, 2013 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate.
Burial will be in Caswell Cemetery. Mr. Turner's grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church or the Salvation Army.
