Charles R Coggins
December 27th, 1928 to February 6th, 2013
Charles Raymond Coggins, 84, of Marysville, left this world on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 after a short battle with cancer.
Chuck leaves behind his wife, Carol; his children, Sherri Volk, Dawn (Paul) Mosteller, Charles "Mike" (Kim) Coggins and Lora (Bruce) McFadden; and five grandchildren, Charles Coggins III, Brian Volk, Kyle Coggins, Bruce McFadden and Danielle McFadden.
Chuck recently smiled and said he’s had a great life. He spent four years serving his country in the U.S. Navy. His main profession was carpentry, spending 20+ years supervising the construction of many commercial buildings. He was a member of Carpenter's Local #1067 and a union trustee for 16 years. He was a member of Marysville American Legion Post #449, was an avid bowler, enjoyed playing cards at the Legion, woodworking, fishing and riding his motorcycle. He was a longtime member of the Marysville Golf Course, the Moonshooter's Club and was a starter at the club for 25 years. Chuck enjoyed many years playing baseball as a pitcher. He taught Sunday School and took his classes on many special outdoor activities. He and Carol spent 25 years wintering in Arizona.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2013 in the Marysville Funeral Home. Military honors will be conducted at 4 p.m. under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.
Chuck’s long time wish has been followed to donate his body to science. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. To send condolences, visit marysvillefuneralhome.com
