Eugene R Mozal

Eugene Robert Mozal, 88, of Marysville, died Saturday, July 15, 2017.

He was born October 20, 1928 in Detroit to the late Anthony and Antonina Mozal. He married Rita Eleanor Majchrzak on September 10, 1949 in Detroit. She preceded him in death on May 11, 2010.

During his law enforcement career spanning 48 years, he served as a Detroit Police Officer, a St. Clair County Sheriff’s Deputy and a U.S. Deputy Marshall. He was a long time member of St. Christopher Catholic Church and a Eucharistic Minister. He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, the Loyal Order of the Moose, Marysville American Legion Post #449 and the Fraternal Order of Police. He was also a member of the Boy Scouts of America, where he received the Silver Beaver award and was a member of the Order of the Arrow.

He is survived by two sons, Michael (Val) Mozal and Dan (Joann) Mozal; four daughters, Michele Whitty, Suzanne Mozal, Lynne (Scott) Rogers and Renee (Keith) Vranish; nineteen grandchildren, Michael (Erin) Jr., Scott (Alda), Kerry (Frank), Joshua (Caitlin), Jeremiah (Abby), Jacob (Crystal), Jessica, Joslyn (Ben), Joseph, Jena, Jacqueline and Nicholas; 15 great-grandchildren, Savannah, Shealyn, Morgan, Mason, Madden, Daniela, Sophia, Raegan, Isabella, Maddox, Lily, Emerson, Sebastian, Lennon and Kaden; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Edmund, Eleanor, Zigmund and Norman.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Monday in the Marysville Funeral Home. A scripture service will be held at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.

Mr. Mozal will lie in state from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 in St. Christopher Catholic Church. The Reverend James Arwady will officiate.

Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Navy and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Christopher Catholic Church, Boy Scouts of America or the American Diabetes Association.
