Shirley J. Mainguy, 87, of Lewiston and formerly of Port Huron, died Sunday, August 27, 2017.

She was born July 27, 1930 in Port Huron to the late Elmer and Clara Pleiness. She married Thomas J. Mainguy on April 3, 1948 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Port Huron. He preceded her in death on June 11, 1993.

Shirley was a 1947 graduate of Port Huron High School. She retired from the Port Huron Area School District in 1990 as a Para Professional. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 2495 in Lewiston and the V.F.W. Auxiliary May O’Brian Post 8465 in Port Huron. She was also a member of the Gingham Girls from the old original Dorsey House Restaurant. She enjoyed playing cards, feeding animals and bowling.

She is survived by her sons, Ed (Joann) Mainguy and Dan (Ronni) Mainguy; very special companion, Richard VanLeen; daughter-in-law, Ruth Mainguy; 7 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; sister, Nancy (Jay) Hamilton; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, John T. Mainguy on June 23, 2017; and sister, Betty Kerbyson.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Wednesday in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, August 31, 2017 in the Marysville Funeral Home. Deacon John Connors will officiate. Burial will be in Kinney Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mike, Brian and Jack Mainguy, Shawn Arnold, Tim and Trace Malloy.

Memorials may be made to the Blue Water Area Humane Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
