Fay Compton Blondo, 91, of St. Clair Shores, formerly of Lexington, passed away September 12, 2014.
She was born October 2, 1922 in Resolven, South Wales, Great Britain to the late Frederick and Elenor Coope.
Fay was a Chief Petty Officer in The Women's Royal Naval Service and met Battalion Sgt. Major Ransom J. Blondo during the troop buildup prior to D-Day, June 6, 1944, where Rans survived Omaha Beach.
Fay had both British and U.S. citizenship and was a lifetime honored President of the TBPA (Transatlantic Brides and Parents Association).
She is survived by four children, Sharyn Malasev, Bruce Blondo, Cindy Telesio, and Denise Blondo; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two sisters, Marlene Kiefer and Margaret Krantz; brother, Harry Caswell; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rans; a son, Neil Blondo; and a sister, Pat Thompson.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 19, 2014 in Ave Maria Parish - St. Denis Catholic Church in Lexington. The Reverend Donald Eppenbrock will officiate.
Burial will be in White Chapel Cemetery, Troy.
Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice.
