Gerald N. Boettner, 83, of Marysville, died Friday, February 13, 2015.
He was born on August 28, 1931 in Wyandotte, Michigan to the late Arnold and Leona Boettner. He married Marcia Sue Rogers on October 8, 1955 in Port Huron. She preceded him in death on September 24, 2008.
Mr. Boettner served in the U.S. Air Force, the Michigan Air National Guard, and as a civilian employee at Selfridge Air National Guard Base.
He was a member of the Blue Water Sportsman’s Association where he was conferred a life membership and taught Jr. Smallbore Rifle and Adult Pistol Marksmanship. He was also a member of the River District Eagles and enjoyed golfing and playing euchre. Jerry was known for being able to fix anything and for his fondness for helping others. He had breakfast and lunch each day at the Four Star Restaurant and affectionately called the waitresses there his “girls”.
He is survived by a son, Brian (Severine) Boettner; two daughters, Gale (Dennis) Smith and Wendy (Robert) Mobley; 12 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Kubley; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Monday in Marysville Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 in Pilgrim Lutheran Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend John W. Hitzeroth will officiate.
Burial will follow in Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Smith, Christopher Smith, Sarah Boettner, Robert Mobley II, Dustin Mobley and Elizabeth Connolly. Aaron Smith will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
