E. Rachel Dudley
December 11th, 1921 to August 13th, 2015
E. Rachel Dudley, 93, of Kalamazoo and formerly of Port Huron, died Thursday, August 13, 2015 after a long illness.
She was born December 11, 1921 in Lynn Township to the late John G. and Maude Dudley. Her family farmed on the road that still bears her family name.
After graduating from high school, Rachel was employed as a clerk typist for the Office of the St. Clair County Clerk. From there she moved to Springfield, Massachusetts where she was employed with the Western Massachusetts Electric Company until her retirement in 1983. While in Springfield, she was a member of the Christ Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon and was a member of the Women’s Association.
Following her retirement, she and her sister, Mary, moved to Kalamazoo to be closer to family. She was a member of the Galesburg United Methodist Church and of their Women’s Association. Rachel was very civic minded and had a great love of music, dancing and spending time with loved ones.
Rachel is survived by her sister, Erma Jean (Roy) Cassell of Bakersfield, California; her cousin and namesake, Rachel (Wes) Schieman of Croswell; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She is also survived by caregiver, Christine Noble, who tenderly cared for Rachel in her last years. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Willer; and nephew, David Dudley.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. The Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday in Mount Ever-Rest Memorial Park North, Kalamazoo.
