Vivian Yon
Vivian Newquist Yon, 92, of Marysville died on Tuesday, April 4, 2017.
She was born March 11, 1925 in Menominee, MI to the late Gustav & Hillevi Newquist. She married Frank Brandt Yon on June 21, 1948 in Menominee. He preceded her in death on August 11, 2001.
Mrs. Yon attended Roosevelt University in Chicago in her early twenties, working at Carson Pirie & Scott department store downtown. She was a vocal major and sang “on the road” at state fairs in Iowa and Nebraska, where she met her future husband, Frank, playing trombone in the same show. After coming to Marysville, Mrs. Yon was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse with Mercy Hospital for 10 years. Vivian was a member of Marysville United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to music. She loved to follow the Detroit Tigers and watching the animals in her yard.
She is survived by two children, Frank (Debbie) Yon and Ingrid (Marvin) Yon-James; four grandchildren, Matthew (Teresa) James, Jason James, Kirsten (Hunter) Yon, and Alissa (Alex) Gofman; great grandchildren, Elena & Matthew James and Ethan Gofman; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Thursday in the Marysville Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, April 7, 2017 in Marysville United Methodist Church. The Reverend Barbara Wellbaum will officiate.
Burial will take place in Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Marysville United Methodist Church.
