Reverend John H Arnold
The Reverend John Howard Arnold, 75, of St. Clair, died Monday, January 17, 2022.
He was born September 14, 1946 in Deckerville to the late Jack and Evelyn Arnold. He married Kathy Morrison on August 13, 1977 in Deckerville.
John graduated from Deckerville High School and then served in the United States Army, earning the National Defense Service Medal and a Rifle Sharp Shooter Award. After his honorable discharge, he graduated from Bethel College. Reverend Arnold began his pastoral career as youth pastor of Lakeview Baptist Church in Battle Creek, became senior pastor of Huntley Memorial Baptist in Niles, and then retired from Westhaven Baptist Church after 15 years as senior pastor. He was passionate about missions and went on many trips over the years, and also loved music. John enjoyed his time as counselor, camp director, and camp pastor for Lake Louise Baptist Camp and Lael Baptist Camp for many summers. He had a love of horses and was the leader of the Port Huron High School Equestrian team for many years and served on the St. Clair County 4-H Fair Board for several years.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kathy; two sons, Nathan (Andrea) Arnold and Tim (Alissa) Arnold; five grandchildren, Jesse, Malya, Haddie, Natalie and Asher; brother, Paul (Jane) Arnold; brother-in-law, Darrel Rich; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Shelia Rich.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Westhaven Baptist Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Randy Pouliot will officiate.
