Cheryl K Northrup
Cheryl K. Wilson Northrup, 66, of St. Clair, passed away with pneumonia at Henry Ford Hospital on Friday, April 22, 2022.
She was born June 6, 1955 in Port Huron to the late Charles and Virginia Wilson. She married Alan Northrup on December 6, 1997 at the St. Clair Inn.
Over the years Cheryl had many jobs in the restaurant industry. From managing restaurants to selling food and equipment. Later, Cheryl did a 180-degree turn around and took a sales associate position with Barnes Distribution, a screw, nut and bolt company. She really enjoyed her job, especially when she could land a new account or steal business from a competitor. It was all about her being a woman in a man’s world.
Over the last six years of Cheryl’s life, the most exciting part of her working career was becoming a Courtesy Driving Instructor. There, she could take kids with no driving experience and in six weeks of training have them driving on I-94 at 70 mph.
She enjoyed cooking and in one of her many moves in the last 25 years, one of the movers said, “I have never unloaded so many boxes of cookbooks in my life.” She just told him, “I love to cook.” The same went for Christmas. The moving trucks were loaded with boxes and boxes of Christmas decorations, many of them never used. It was the holiday that Cheryl counted down each month until the next Christmas.
Cheryl would also enjoy a glass of wine on occasion with her neighbors during 4:30 p.m. Happy Hour where everything and anything would be discussed.
She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Alan; daughter, Mikel Anne Mansfield; grandson, Holden Schipper; sisters, Susan (Phil) Lindal and Brenda (Rick) Palmer; nephew, Tom Gleason; niece, McKenzie Palmer; special aunt, Ellen Innis; great niece and nephew, Leah Gleason (fiancé James Jordon) and Jacob (Kelsey) Gleason; and great-great niece and nephew, Addison and Jaedon Gleason.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lynda Wilson; brother, David Wilson; and her Bichon Frise, Buttons.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 in the Marysville Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m.
April is National Donate Life Month. Cheryl was proud to be a registered donor, though health conditions prevented her from being able to donate at the time of her passing. The family encourages those who knew Cheryl to register as a donor in Cheryl’s honor so that the gift of life may be passed on to others.
