James W. Chisholm, 93, of Port Huron, died Monday, September 26, 2022.
He was born April 16, 1929 in Port Huron to the late Darell and Sylvia Chisholm. He married Joyce G. Fenner April 30, 1955 in St. John’s United Church of Christ in Port Huron. She preceded him in death on January 29, 2016 after 60 years of marriage.
James served in the United States Army. After his return from the service, he worked for Acheson Colloids for 35 years, retiring as Plant Engineer in 1992. He was a longtime, active member of St. John’s United Church of Christ. James’ love language was providing for his family through his vegetable garden, and he also loved fishing.
He is survived by four children, Susan (Bill) Combs, Nancy (Patrick) Loftus, Gregory James (Annette) Chisholm and Brian (Stephanie) Chisholm; 17 grandchildren, James (Rhonda) Combs, Jeremy (Rebecca) Combs, Joshua (Heidi) Combs, Justin Combs, Jordan (Jenna) Combs, Sean (Rachel) Loftus, Trevor (Megan) Loftus, Megan Loftus, Rachel (Mark) Wilkie, Cory (Erica) Chisholm, Alyson Chisholm, Hailey Chisholm, Tyler Chisholm, Devon Chisholm, Darell Nikolle (Benjamin) Baughman, Alexander (Lauren) Chisholm and Shelby (Christopher) Swanson; 20 great grandchildren, Sydney, Lauryn, Cayden, Chloe, Lydia, and Nolan Combs, Alexa and David Wilkie, Nathan and Killian Chisholm, Jackson, Josephine and Joyce Baughman, Amelia and Wyatt Swanson, Cooper, Halle, Luka, Madelyn, and Jonah Loftus; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Wanda Collins-Boughner, Betty McPhee and Marjorie Greene.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2022 in St. John’s United Church of Christ with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Dr. Richard E. Hotchkin will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the United States Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ for their annual mission trip which provides free local home repairs.
