Annette Crerar
Annette Jean (Jones) Crerar, 87, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, August 1, 2023.
She was born March 29, 1936 in Port Huron to the late Bert “Doc” and Lillian Jones.
Annette loved the Lord and pursued a lifelong relationship with Him. She had a wide variety of interests that allowed her to have a love and appreciation for so many people from all walks of life. After attending London Bible College, she became a missionary, starting churches in rural areas in the Pacific Northwest region. She was musically gifted and started playing the piano at age 3. She also enjoyed playing the accordion, marimba and pipe organ. Annette loved to share her music and was still playing the piano days before she was called home.
She also had a special interest in the theater and participated in many productions designing costumes. She turned her talent of costume design into her own business, opening Crerar Costume Shop. It always brought her so much joy dressing in costumes where she was unrecognizable to her friends and family.
Annette also had a passion for caring for others both physically and spiritually. She was an accomplished RN, receiving her Masters in Health Care Administration from St. Joseph University in Maine. She worked many years at the St. Clair County Health Department and Faith Medical Nursing Home. After retirement from nursing, she felt called to become an ordained minister. The strong Christian Legacy she leaves for all who ever met her is evidenced through the decades of Bible studies at her home, the Sunday school classes she taught, and the countless hours of comforting, praying with and for anyone who needed her. The plan of salvation was always shared and there will be generations of families rejoicing in Heaven because of her unwavering testimony.
After a long full life, her loving Savior said, “Well done my good and faithful servant” and called her to her eternal home. While we rejoice in the assurance that we will one day be reunited in Heaven, she will be greatly missed by her loving family. She is survived by her two children, Pete (Michelle) Crerar and Lois (Steven) Dunning; five grandchildren, who were the love of her life, Jonathan (Kelly) Crerar, Jacob and Jenna Crerar, and Alexander and Zachary Dunning; and precious great granddaughters, Claire and Kora Crerar.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at the Port Huron First Church of the Nazarene with visiting beginning at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Joshua W. Woods will officiate and a luncheon will follow the service.
