Gerald Frendt

June 11th, 1946 to February 16th, 2012
Gerald Michael Frendt, 65, a lifelong area resident, died unexpectedly as the result of a heart attack on Thursday, February 16, 2012 after defeating cancer several months ago.

He was born June 11, 1946 in Port Huron to the late Arthur and Dorothy Frendt. He married Lorraine Kennedy on April 19, 2002.

Jerry has been a broker in the Port Huron area for over 35 years and was the owner of Coldwell Banker Real Estate. He was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church, a dedicated longtime soccer coach, and a passionate politician. He was the current chairman of the St. Clair County Republican Party. His leadership, community involvement and patriotism have been an inspiration for many over the years. Jerry was also an adventurous outdoorsman, a devoted M.S.U. Spartan fan, and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; children, Jeffrey (Sara) Frendt of Memphis, Tennessee, David (Shanna) Frendt and Jennifer (Todd) Nelson, all of Marysville, and their mother, Sue (David) Anderson; step-children, Jessica Ippolito, Justin (Nichol Vincent) Ippolito, and Vanessa Ippolito, all of Port Huron; 13 grandchildren, Dallas, Jackson, Trent, Ty, Paige, Brittney, Kaitlyn, Natalie, Paul II, Joseph, Jonathan, Brenden, and Valerie, and another grandchild due in May; sister, Karen Steward; brothers, Charles Frendt, Richard (Mary Lou) Frendt, Robert (Linda) Frendt, and John (Shirley) Frendt; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and countless dear friends, including Sanford (Linda) Simons.

He was preceded in death by a brother, James Frendt; sisters-in-law, Theresa Frendt and Janine Kennedy; and brother-in-law, Robert Steward.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Saturday and 1-4 & 6-9 p.m. Sunday in the Marysville Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Sunday.

Mr. Frendt will lie in state at St. Christopher Catholic Church on Monday, February 20, 2012 from 10:30 until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Arthur Baranowski will officiate.

The Rite of Committal will follow in Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville.

Memorials may be made to the Karmanos Cancer Institute.
