Debra A "Debbie" Prevost
Debra A. “Debbie” Prevost, 66, of Port Huron passed away Monday, September 9, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.
Debbie was born September 3, 1958 in Port Huron to Barbara L. and the late Leonard Smith. Debbie's youth was full of adventure, even though she often acted like the “other mother” to her 6 siblings. Her education began at St. Joseph Catholic School. She then attended Washington Middle School, on half days, where she met Martin Wayne Prevost and their love story began. A few years, and many stories later, they were crowned Homecoming King and Queen. Their love story continued and they were married on March 3, 1976 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. They shared 37 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on November 16, 2013.
Debbie graduated from Port Huron High School in 1976. Shortly afterwards, she set off to begin an adventure on the road with Marty and his band. Their first two children were born while they traveled the country pursuing his musical dreams. In 1981, the family settled back in Port Huron to have their third child and to be near family and friends. Debbie worked in the medical field for several years, and then spent 30 years in the office at Mortimer Lumber. Always a hard worker, Debbie most recently worked on the event staff at McMorran Place. A very proud grandma, Debbie’s happiest moments were those spent with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by a daughter, Jennifer (Wesley) Peyerk; two sons, Martin (Dana) and Matthew (Kelsie) Prevost; grandchildren, Jenevieve, Cole, Paisley, and Joslyn Peyerk, Faith, Charlie, Emma, Drew, Morgan and Matthew Prevost; her mother, Barbara Smith; four siblings, Mary Lynn Stump, Susan (Tony) Abraham, Barbie (Jeff) Payton, Patrick (Jodi) Smith; her extended Prevost family; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband and father, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Lenny and David Smith; and her parents-in-law, Richard and Joan Prevost.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 in the Riverlawn Cemetery Chapel, Marysville. Refreshments to follow at The Elks Lodge 3292 Beach Road Port Huron, Michigan from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.
