Alicia Hernandez
Alicia M. Hernandez, 87, of Port Huron, died Friday, April 13, 2012.
She was born August 14, 1924 in Loredo, Mexico to the late Corneilio and Josepha Gutierrez.
Mrs. Hernandez worked in accounting throughout the community before retiring as a bookkeeper for WHLS. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission and served on the Hispanic Council. She was also a member of Port Huron Educational Board. She enjoyed crafting and crocheting and was an amazing cook.
She is survived by two sons, Juan (Lori) Ruiz Sr. of Port Huron and Gilbert (Sylvia) Ruiz of Arizona; two daughters, Diana Walker of Fort Gratiot and Maria Hernandez of Port Huron; 18 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Suzanne Ruiz.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Monday and 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Mrs. Hernandez will lie in state from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 in Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission. The Reverend Brian Cokonougher will officiate.
The Rite of Committal will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be William Walker, Larry Ruiz, James McIntyre, Juan Ruiz Jr. Jeremy Ruiz and Mike Higgins.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission.
