Dianne Marie Burgdorf

September 12th, 1938 to August 31st, 2025

Dianne Marie Burgdorf, 86, of Fort Gratiot, died Sunday, August 31, 2025.

She was born September 12, 1938 in Margaretville, New York to the late Magdalena and Paul Rosa. She spent her childhood in upstate New York, living in various towns in the Catskill Mountains.

Dianne went to Nursing School at St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing in New York City. After becoming a registered nurse, she continued to live in NYC, working at Columbia Medical Center. Even though she grew up in small towns, she loved living and working in the city and spoke fondly of all the good times she had with her roommates and friends there.

New York City was also the place where she met her future husband, Jim, and they married in 1966. As a newlywed couple, they moved to Benton Harbor, Michigan. The following year, they moved to Connecticut, where they raised their two children, Kenneth and Arianne, before finally moving the family to Port Huron in 1983. After her husband’s death in 1987, Dianne relocated to Fort Gratiot, where she lived until her death.

Dianne loved being a nurse and enjoyed every experience, working in all fields from pediatrics to geriatrics. In her final role, she worked for Community Mental Health of St. Clair County where she was an active voice in her union chapter.

She had a passion for reading, serving as President of the Friends of the Library Board at the Main Branch of the St. Clair County Library for many years. She enjoyed music, especially classical, born from her time as a cellist when she was younger. Dianne was a great conversationalist, and friends and family alike loved talking with her. She loved tennis, and although she watched tournaments from around the world, her favorite by far was the U.S. Open as it was held in her beloved NYC.

Dianne is survived by her daughter, Arianne Burgdorf; and a host of nephews, cousins and their families. In addition to her husband and parents, Dianne was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Burgdorf; and brother, Stewart Rosa.

A memorial service will be planned for a later date.

The family prefers memorial contributions be made to the National Kidney Foundation, the American Heart Association or the St. Clair County Library.
