James E. Collins, 89, of Clyde Township, died Friday, June 3, 2016 at the Blue Water Hospice Home surrounded by his family.

He was born June 30, 1926 in Jackson, Kentucky to the late Sherman and Dora Collins. He married Eileen J. Fiedler on June 6, 1953 in Port Huron.

Mr. Collins served with the U.S. Army during WWII and was awarded a Bronze Star. He retired from Domtar Paper Company after 43 years of service. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Charles A. Hammond American Legion Post #8, the Legion Drum and Bugle Corp and the Forty & Eight Club. He enjoyed being outdoors, spending time with his family, loved to make things and was an all-round Mr. Fix-it.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Eileen; four children, James E. Collins, Linda (Ronald) O’Connor, Patricia Minnie and Robert Collins; 7 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; two brothers, George (Mimi) Collins and Arthur (Patricia) Collins; several nieces and nephews; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law of the Dickinson family. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Ray, Alfred, Russell, Robert and Kelly Collins.

Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2016 in Trinity Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior to the service. Military honors will be conducted by the U. S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.

Burial will be in Kinney Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Matthew Herpel, Ronald O’Connor Jr., Tim Minnie Jr., Steve Corry, Chuck Corry and Joe Ball.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Blue Water Hospice or Charles A. Hammond American Legion Post #8.
