David R Socha

David R. Socha, 85, formerly of Marysville, passed peacefully surrounded by family on September 19, 2020.

Dave was born in Port Huron, Michigan. He graduated from St. Clair High School, Port Huron Junior College, and Wayne State University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He enjoyed a successful sales career in the automotive industry prior to relocating to Bonita Springs, Florida. Dave and his wife, Yvonne, enjoyed a wonderful life filled with new friends, travel, and laughter.

When people speak of Dave the word most often used is “kind”, and he demonstrated this kindness in a multitude of ways. He was very talented and could build, fix, or create anything. Whether it was for family, friends, Habitat for Humanity or anyone in need, Dave gave generously of his time and was always happy when helping others. His family relied on his quiet strength and they all found great joy in the times spent together. The lessons, memories, and love will remain forever.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne (Del Giudice); sons, Dennis (Kristi) Socha, Bradley Socha, Randall (Julie) Socha and daughter-in-law, Stephanie Socha; stepchildren, Diane Jones and Brad (Kelly) Bunting; he was blessed with 14 grandchildren and his legacy will live on through them: Tyler, Nicholas, Rachel, Sarah, Rebecca, Cameron, Brennan (Elizabeth), Hannah, Maxwell, Lillian, Benjamin, John, Daniel, and Jacob; sisters, Donna Schweihofer, and Judy (Ken) Langmesser; loving relative, Paula Darany; many nieces and nephews, including special niece, Barbara Gaffney. Dave was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Edna (Jones) Socha; his wife and mother of his children, Laura Socha; son, Steven Socha; brother, Frank Socha; and niece, Cherie Peterson.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 17, 2021 from 5-9 p.m. at the Marysville Funeral Home. A time for “Sharing of Memories” is planned for 7 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 18, 2021 at 11 am in St. Christopher Catholic Church with visitation beginning at 10 am. The Reverend James Arwady will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.

Burial will follow in Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville.

The family requests memorial contributions in Dave’s memory be made to the International Myeloma Foundation (www.myeloma.org) or a charity of your choice.
