Harold Perry
Harold Perry, 75, of Marysville, MI, passed away on May 11th, 2023, after a valiant battle with vascular dementia.
Harold was born on January 29th, 1948 to Harold and Isabelle Perry in Marysville, MI. He spent his childhood filled with childlike tricks and play with his 7 brothers and 3 sisters. He attended Marysville High School and graduated in 1966. After high school, Harold enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Germany. This is a cherished time of his life. It was a time of change, growing and securing a future. He went on to get his MBA at Iona University in New York.
In 1977, he married the late Dorothy (Jones) Perry. They had two children, Meredith and Ashley. They raised their family in North Bellmore, NY and later Naperville, IL. During his life he worked for Unisys leading programs for radar systems. After moving to Illinois, he held different jobs in sales.
After retiring, Harold spent his time focusing on his five grandchildren and family. His grandchildren were his joy. He loved to spend all the time with them enjoying all the simple moments of life: reading, walking, talking and playing.
He was known as “Dude” to his loved ones. He was friendly, kind, and shared his smile with everyone he met. Harold had a giving nature and loved to help others. He was definitely a person who would give you the shirt off his back. He loved to walk. This was his therapy and his calm. He talked to strangers who became friends on his walks. He took pictures of nature and loved to share these simple joys with others. And of course, he always collected treasures on his walks: feathers, rocks, and the occasional tennis ball to give to his grandkids. He loved information and reading. He was always armed with information about the latest healthy nutrition facts, fitness exercises and medical advice.
Harold was the best of the best and he will be terribly missed by the many who knew him.
Harold is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Dorothy and his brother, Al. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Meredith (Anthony) and Ashley (Eric): his sisters, Diane (Dick), Joann (Dave), Sue & Marge; his brothers, Charles (Linda), Dave, Dennis (Kelly), Roger (Denise), Dale (Juanita), Brian (Misty); and his five grandchildren, Ray, Mila, Stella, Hunter, and Hans.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 23, 2023 in Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Air Force and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
