Obituary

Martin J. Schantz, age 66, of Casco, died Sunday, February 5, 2012. He was born in Port Huron on July 30, 1945 to the late Douglas and Mary Schantz. He married Sharon Kloeffler on February 6, 1965 in Richmond.

Martin owned and operated Schantz Equipment for 45 years. He was known for his karaoke parties and love of people. He adored his wife, kids & grandchildren and enjoyed time with his "breakfast buddies". He worked hard and played hard and always made sure everyone had fun. He loved riding his motorcycle with Sharon, and was a master mechanic who was skilled at many things. He was an active member of Columbus Bible Church.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sharon; two daughters, Dawn (Kevin) Pridotkas of Columbus and Michelle (Darrell) Norris of Casco; a son, Shannon Schantz of Richmond; seven grandchildren, Jordan, Brandon, Alexandria, Zachary, Jacob, Cody and Morgan; three brothers; Randy (Gloria) Schantz of Marine City, Craig Schantz of St. Clair and Brian Schantz of Indiana; two sisters; Linda Fogarty of Smiths Creek and Denise Schantz of Missouri; a sister-in-law; Judith Howze of Ypsilanti; a brother-in-law, Bill (Gail) Kloeffler of Algonac; many nieces, nephews, cousins and very special friends.

Martin was preceded in death by son, Gary, brother, Larry, beloved relatives, Noreen & Nat Bushey, Clay Kloeffler, Rezo Howze and Jerry Fogarty, and special friend, Jay Peake.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Marysville Funeral Home, 1200 Michigan Avenue.

Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 9th, 2012 in the Columbus Bible Church, 1770 Palms Road, with visitation starting an hour prior to the service. Pastor Woodrow Nelson will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Schantz, Cody Schantz, Zachary Norris, Jacob Pridotkas, Shannon Schantz, Kevin Pridotkas, Darrel Norris and Randy Schantz.

No matter what tomorrow brings, God is ready to hold and protect us.
