Bessie M "Betty" Baker

February 22nd, 1939 to October 4th, 2016

Bessie M. “Betty” Baker, 77, of Kimball, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, October 4, 2016.

She was born February 22, 1939 in Port Huron to Marshall and Evah LaVere and was a lifelong area resident. She married Graham M. Baker on August 4, 1962 in Port Huron.

Betty was a Port Huron High School Graduate, Class of 1957. She worked many years at Prestolite and American Tape, from which she retired in 2001. Betty enjoyed attending all her class reunions and having lunch with the Prestolite Ladies and American Tape retirees. Most of all she loved her Friday breakfasts with their forever friends, Carol Griffin, Bob and MaryAnn Sheehy, Duke and Nancy Gorinac, Ann Vincent, Linda Collins, Linda Willis and others that have preceded her in death. They enjoyed many years together of canoe trips, ball games and sharing each other’s joys and sorrows. Betty loved being a Mom and a Grandma. She loved her grandbabies more than anything.

She will be deeply missed by her husband of 54 years, Graham; her children, Linda (Randy) Sutkiewicz, and Mark (Teresa) Baker; her grandchildren, David L. Gardiner, Meagan E. Sutkiewicz, Cory M. Baker and Abby N. Baker; a brother, Kenneth (Ruth) LaVere; three sisters, Ruby (Edward) Cook, Lillian (Richard) Glombowski and Charlene Main; and many in-laws, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Ryan M. Baker; brother-in-law, Bill Main; and her beloved mother-in-law, Elsie M. Baker.

She was loved by everybody who knew her and known always for her smile. She will be missed beyond words.

Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Friday in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2016 in the Marysville Funeral Home. Pastor James Smith and Pastor Kenneth Norcross will officiate.

Burial will be in Caswell Cemetery, Kimball Township. Pallbearers will be Mark Baker, David Gardiner, Cory Baker, Randy Sutkiewicz, David Cook and Aaron Baker. Honorary pallbearers will be Alfred "Duke" Gorinac and Bob Sheehy.
