Richard J Kane
Richard John Kane, 76, of Marysville, went home to be with our Lord on Friday, May 8, 2015.
He was born October 7, 1938 in Detroit to the late James and Anne Kane. He married Willia Mae Martin on June 5, 1964 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Mr. Kane retired from Detroit Edison’s St. Clair Power Plant as a Shift Supervisor. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of Memphis High School and received his 1st Stationary Engineers License from the City of Detroit. He umpired softball for St. Clair Little League, was an avid fisherman, golfer and played the organ, drums, spoons and harmonica. He loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Willia Mae; a son, Richard Lee Kane of Chandler, Arizona; a daughter, Paula Churchill and fiancé, Steve Hatch of Marysville; a granddaughter, Courtney Churchill; a grandson, Cory Lee Churchill; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Martin of Chickasha, Oklahoma; six brothers, Mike (Judy) Kane, Paul Kane, Ken (Cindy) Kane; John Paul Kane, Steve (Linda) Livingston and Harry Kane; seven sisters, Jackie Ingles, JoAnn Kane, Mary (Bill) Weiss, Pat Gerhig, Kathy Kretschmann; Liana (Tom) Haeck and Betsy (Chuck) Francek; five sisters-in-law, Judy (Larry) Singleton, Eleanor Kane, Helen Kane, Vera Kane and Ginger Kane; a brother-in-law, Allen (Brenda) Martin; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by stepmother, Betty Kane; father-in-law, Herbert Lee Martin; and brothers, Jim, Bill, Al, Dave, Charlie and Tony Kane.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. Monday in the Marysville Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m. led by his brother, Paul Kane.
Mr. Kane will lie in state from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clair. The Reverend Michael Zuelch will officiate.
The Rite of Committal will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Mike Ingles, Shawn Singleton, Larry Singleton, Allen Lee Martin, Jason Lee Martin and Ron Leonard.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or Heartland Hospice.
