Doralee Tretheway

Doralee Tretheway, 86, of Fort Gratiot, died Sunday, May 27, 2012 after a long illness.

She was born August 13, 1925 in Wayne, Michigan to the late Raymond and Julia Hanchett. She married Gerald Tretheway on June 20, 1947 in Garden City.

Doralee graduated from Wayne High School in 1943 and was employed with the Ricardo Dance Studio in Detroit where she danced on stage with Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly and Bill Robinson. She later taught at the Flowery Studio in Garden City.

Whatever she tackled, she did well. She was an avid bowler and at one time bowled in four different leagues with top bowlers Elvira Toefer, Gladys Dempsey and Marian Ladiwig. She also became involved in duplicate bridge tournaments and traveled to various cities competing with top bridge players such as Omar Shariff. She accumulated over 300 ACBL points. She enjoyed spending time at their chalet in Lake of the Pines in northern Michigan and traveling with her husband Gerry to various Kiwanis Club functions. She was a member of First Congregational Church and the Red Hats Society.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Gerald; son, Brian (Denise) Tretheway; four grandchildren, Braumwynn, Holly, Deanna and Aaron; a brother, Daryle Hanchett; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2012 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. The Reverend Dr. Thomas Seppo will officiate.

Burial will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Pallbearers will be Brian Tretheway, Dennis Green, William Green, Aaron Jacques, Matthew Dobbs and Paul Golden

Memorials may be made to First Congregational Church or the Michigan District of Kiwanis Foundation.
