Wilson L. Glaab, 96, of Port Huron, died Tuesday, May 29, 2012.
He was born May 15, 1916 in Port Huron to the late Lawrence and Marguerite Glaab. He married Geraldine Whybrew on May 8, 1937 in Ohio. She died January 24, 1997.
Mr. Glaab retired from the City of Port Huron as Assistant Fire Chief on January 31, 1979. He began his service as a fireman on October 8, 1938 and also served as a Captain for many years. He graduated from St. Stephen's High School in 1934 in Port Huron and was a former member of the Port Huron Host Lions Club. He was an active and devout Methodist.
He is survived by a daughter, Judith Washburn of Illinois; a son-in-law, Louis Fair; grandchildren, Christine (Mike) Lewis, Scott (Carol) Washburn, John (Maggie) Washburn, James (Alicia) Washburn, Mark (LaDaune) Washburn, Suzanne Jackson, Michael (Theresa) Hill, Traci (Jim) Regan, Rick Fair, Teresa (Mark) Baker and Steven Fair; many great and great great grandchildren; and sisters, Harriet (Bud) Rowbotham and Betty Byington.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Joan Hill and Karen Fair; a son-in-law, George Hill; a grandson, Thomas Hill; a great grandson, Ryan Baker; and a sister, Eunice Ernst.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Port Huron Fire Department will conduct a Pass-in-Review ceremony at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2012 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Reverend Robert D. Chapman will officiate.
Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Memorial contributions may be made to Washington Avenue United Methodist Church.
