Gerneith Simpson

Gerneith Dorothy Simpson, 88, of Fort Gratiot, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013 in Regency on the Lake.

She was born October 24, 1924 to the late Edward and Elsie Baker at the Quinn Place on Ravenswood Road, Kimball, Michigan. She married Harold Simpson on June 13, 1947 in Angola, Indiana. He died November 11, 1999.

Gerneith worked in many area restaurants as short order cook; Stew Cunningham's Fisherman's Wharf in St. Clair (1960’s), now the River Crab, Four Star and Manis’s Restaurant (1960-1970).

She is survived by a daughter, Gerlyn Delor; two sons, Wayne (Dawn) Simpson and Orren (Lynn) Simpson, all of Port Huron; nine grandchildren, Edward and Melody (Tom) Dupree, James Wright, Jeff (Jodee) Simpson, David (Sarah) Simpson, Lisa (Gerald) McCabe, Nathan (Tiffany) Simpson, Cari (Sam) Bacon, and Ashley (Mike) Desjarlais; 15 great grandchildren;

and three brothers Graham, Garrett and Gilford Baker. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Gwen Wright; and four brothers, Geoffery, Gerald (Bubbles), Gordon, and Gaylord Baker.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, May 4, 2013 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. The Rev. Arnold Koontz of River of Life Church will officiate.

Burial will be in Caswell Cemetery, Kimball Township.
