Ramona J Tunningly

R. Jean Allen Tunningly, 82, of Port Huron, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 6, 2011.

She was born September 18, 1929 in Port Huron to the late Jay E. and Ethel Mae Leathorn. She married James E. Allen in April 12, 1947. He died February 16, 1983. She married George B. Tunningly on May 24, 1986 in Port Huron.

Mrs. Tunningly was co-owner of Allen’s Quality Cleaners for 17 years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Red Cross Clowns, American Legion Charles Hammond Post 8 Auxiliary, the Legion Dance Club and several area bowling leagues.

She is survived by her husband, George;

seven children, John Allen, Jeffrey (Cheryl) Allen, Joseph (Karen) Allen, Jayne Fowler, James (Chris) Allen Jr., Jeri (Steve) Soltis and Janet (Larry) Herriman; two stepsons, James (Linda) Tunningly and George (Sue) Tunningly Jr.; a stepdaughter, Cindy Manchester; 23 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; a brother, Bruce Leathorn; and three sisters, Katherine (Fred) Mitchell, Dorothy (Gary) Brothers and Vicki (Kenneth) Lawrence. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Rose Allen in 1970; and a son-in-law, David Fowler in 2006.

Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2011 in First Presbyterian Church. The Reverend Jason Pittman will officiate.

Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jean’s grandsons.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Old Newsboys or Blue Water Area Humane Society.
