Betty J Phare
Betty Jean Phare, 92, of Port Huron died at McLaren Port Huron Hospital on September 4, 2015. She was born May 2, 1923 in Rodney, Michigan to the late Ferdenan and Amber Shuberg. She married Roy Phare on November 26, 1947 in Big Rapids. He died December 10, 2006.
Betty graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1941 and worked for Michigan Bell for 27 years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she was active in U.M.W. and Lydia Circle. She was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
She is survived by two daughters, Christine (Richard) Lloyd of Phoenix, AZ and Barbara (Brian) Belanger of Marine City, MI; two grandsons, Aaron (Megan) Lloyd and Michael Lloyd of Phoenix, AZ; two granddaughters, Jenna and Laura Belanger of Marine City, MI; a great-grandson Jack Thomas Lloyd; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Clarence Phare; two brothers, Ellsworth Heaton and Carl Shuberg; and six sisters, Ruth Shuberg, Esther Olds, Florence Fredrick, Mildred Larsen, Mable Leeper and Edith Baxter.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, October 10, 2015 in First United Methodist Church with visiting from 10:00 am. The Rev. John Huhtala will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.
