Garnet E Clark
Garnet Ethel Clark, 98, of Port Huron, died Friday, April 27, 2018.
She was born February 28, 1920 in Kendall, Wisconsin to the late Walter William and Myrtle Mae (Abbott) Arndt. She married Herman K. “Curley” Clark on April 20, 1946 in Elroy, Wisconsin. He died March 31, 1986 in Dearborn, Michigan.
During World War II, Garnet was employed by the Army Service Forces - Office of the Chief Signal Officer in Philadelphia. She then transferred to Washington D.C. to work at the Pentagon. Garnet later was employed by the State of Michigan in the Michigan Liquor Control Commission.
She was a member of the Stoney Creek Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and the General Society of Mayflower Descendants.
She was very creative, and as an accomplished seamstress, made her own clothes as well as doll clothes for her granddaughter and other children. She also enjoyed making cross-stitch samplers and needlepoint. She loved a good game of pinochle, enjoyed bowling and excelled as a pianist. And as her grandchildren can attest, she was a phenomenal baker.
She is survived by a son, Larry K. Clark; three grandchildren, Kelly VanWormer (Gerald Schnepp), Matthew (Melissa) VanWormer and Jeffrey Van Wormer; three great grandchildren, Morgan, Myka and Molly VanWormer; and a son-in-law, Dennis VanWormer. She was preceded in death by a daughter, the Rev. Patricia VanWormer; a sister, Marlene Schulte; and two brothers, Mailen Arndt and Gervase Arndt.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2018 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10 a.m.
Burial will be in Michigan Memorial Park, Flat Rock.
